VP Chiwenga kicks out wife Marry from Borrowdale home

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife’s conspicuous absence has finally been explained following reports that her marriage to the former Army General has hit the rocks.

Marry was chased from their Borrowdale home after cheating poisoning accusations.

The country’s second lady Mary Chiwenga was recently served with a directive to vacate their Borrowdale home by her estranged husband.

According to online publication, ZimLive, the former beauty queen, Mary, was recently ordered to move out of the Borrowdale home by Friday 7 December and leave behind their two children, a boy and a girl aged eight and seven respectively.

Sources said Chiwenga, who was nursed back to health at a military hospital in Beijing after having suffered from a blocked oesophagus amid poisoning rumours.

Chiwenga is reported to have suspected Mary’s hand in his poisoning and of infidelity.

Chiwenga and Mary are reported to have crossed swords after the latter asked for a Marriage Act (Chapter 5:11) union as the 63-year-old battled for his life in a Pretoria hospital.

Chiwenga customarily married Mary in 2011 when he paid a whopping US$47 000 as the bride price, but the couple were yet to solemnize the marriage under the country’s Marriage Act Chapter 5:11.

The marriage is recognised under Zimbabwean law but carries complexities which notoriously bring grief to widows.
