Norton legislator Temba Peter Mliswa has accused Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio on Mines and Mining Development and Shurugwi South MP Edmond Mukaratigwa of trying to sabotage the development of Mliswa Village in Shurugwi.
Through his Twitter blog, Mliswa said Mukaratigwa is panicking that the development of the village might win Mliswa hearts of the electorate in his constituency.
“Good morning, a new week with new possibilities… make it count! I continue with the development of Mliswa Village in Shurugwi under the adept stewardship of the Development Committee working with the Chief, Village Heads & Councillor.
It would appear however Hon. Mukaratigwa is panicking & as a result threatening members of the team. This however is not the way to go about it & will work against him. His bid for 2023 is likely to be scuppered if he tries to stop development. Not that I intend to stand, NO!
I’ve made it abundantly clear my intentions are solely to reinvest in where I am from. I can’t call myself successful when my roots remain undeveloped. Furthermore my undertaking to develop the Village stems from my late father’s wishes to uplift the people, it’s personal
Hon. Mukaratigwa was invited to participate in the borehole drilling programme but unfortunately declined on the basis of inability. This will not deter us though as the project will come to fruition regardless.
His methods of attempting to abuse the CIO won’t work. All he needs to do is be on the ground&be effective in his role. As a Village Head myself, development to empower&assist the villagers, WarVets, schools&disabled, in my sphere of influence is key. MliswaVillage will prosper.” Said Mliswa.
