Former Zimbabwe Soccer Player Charles Yohane shot dead in Soweto

FORMER Zimbabwe Warriors left back Charles Yohane has died.

Charles Yohane, a former Zimbabwe Warriors player, has died. Yohane was found dead in Mzimhlophe, Soweto after he was hijacked over the weekend.

He was 48.

Yohane was shot dead by armed carjackers in South Africa where he was now a driver for Bolt, a transportation solutions provider.

Details are still sketchy but a family member confirmed that they received news about Yohane’s death and were traveling to South Africa on Wednesday evening.

The family member said Yohane was found dead in Mzimhlophe, Soweto after he was hijacked over the weekend.

Yohane’s close friend and former Orlando Pirates defender Innocent Chikoya who also hails from Mbare has been communicating with the family in Zimbabwe.

Yohane attended Harare High School and played for Fire Batteries in Zimbabwe before moving to South Africa where he played for African Wanderers, AmaZulu, Bidvest Wits and AK FC.

He was part of the first group of trailblazing Warriors to the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 2004.

Yohane was also part of the second group of Warriors to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2006.

Yohane was capped 23 times with the Zimbabwe Warriors.
